Thinking Out Loud - It’s time to get serious about life and anything but politics. So, it's time we talk about cars.
The news is making us all nuts. Cancel Thanksgiving?? Demolish Congress/police/etc. Gimme a break. It's time to focus on the important things in life!
The news is coming close to slamming many of us into a depressive state. Of course, lots of us know there’s always an escape for that. We can always dive into Bringatrailor.com knowing we’ll come up in a much better mood. So, let’s skim through a few recent listings.
First be warned: I am very old school and lean towards traditional everything. You won’t find a single Beemer or Benz, etc. in here except for one that will be included for obvious reasons. Sit your coffee down so you don’t spit it out when finding that one. I’ll toss in little quips on each car listed and everyone is bound to have their own automotive thoughts. Please lemme know those in the comments. Your comments always make for great conversations and I look forward to them.
Things I’d like to own

40mm gun carriage - $195,000,everyone needs at least one, 1945-caddilac-or-massey-harris. Czech half track $44,000, a bargain, it’s a 1959 Tatra

Flathead powered crackerbox-race-boat, $5.3K would be fun. I like early ‘Vettes but they have no guts. This ‘57 is LS-1, five speed. Perfect except it’s $160k!

‘34 Coupe - Stock, fully restored - a great around town driver. 65 GTO - Of cars I’ve owned my ‘65 Goat was my favorite. I knew when I bought it new I should have bought two. But, I was in college so…
54 Chevy Lead sled – $54k - ‘You don’t see many Chevy’s slammed but I like it. LS-2, four speed.
Traditioonal lead sled ‘ 50 Merc - $38,000 about 1” too much chop for me
Lead Sled ‘49 Merc - Jesse James built it as his personal car. Maybe the best lead sled ever? Nah! Barris’s Hirohata ‘51 Merc was the best. Word is it has been sold to a collector in Japan.
Custom Chopper $6,500 S&S 96 ci - A lotta bike for the buck
1910 Harley replica - $11,5K-Cool but not practical
‘56 F-100, $85k - ‘would love to own an F-100 but this is too nice!
Allard J2X - $203K -When gigging in Hawaii in 1964 saw both J and K Allard models in a used car lot for $1,200 each. Always liked them. Cad V8 power.
‘36 truck - $34K- Full rebuild, late model flathead and I like patina!!
Those are great and with minor mods have potential

25 T- coupe $6,500, 1931 Model A Coupe - $13,000: Four Banger Ford Facts. Model Ts (1911-1927) are very cool but primitive and won’t work as daily transport. Model As (28-31) were a HUGE jump forward and will work fine for around town transport. I know of two with air conditioners. OR, since I like funky cars, I’d scrounge up Model A drive line parts (engine, trans, diff, which I have) and plug them into something like this T coupe. It would be funky but useable.
And talking of funky - Chevy Coupe rat rod-- $21,500- Great for sneaking down to the bar without the wife knowing. You wouldn’t be noticed.

VW 1951 split window– NICE, $38K-they ain’t cheap anymore! Ford with a 302 in it. $12k. I like the ones with the flathead V8 conversion better.
Fire Trucks (well, why not?)

Cushman Haulster FIRE TRUCK $18K, Mitsubishi - $35KDaihatsu -$10.9K, Pirsch (upper right) - $4,500 - Lotsa truck for the dollar, Honda $12,4K
And then the other stuff!
Benz Motor Waggin - 1886 Mercedes (yes, 1886!). Everyone has to start somewhere. $62KThis is a replica.
1910 Electric – $38.2K - extension cord extra. Eat your heart out, Elan! Again…everyone has to start somewhere.
Thunderbird NASCAR, Retired - $92K - It’ll be a hit at Costco. Hooters sponsorship! Be sure to video first traffic stop. It’ll be a YouTube fav!

In '64 I was stationed at Ft Ord CA, and my neighbor was in the Korean War on a M42 that had twin 40mm guns ( the first picture you show ). It was based on an M41 Light Tank chassis and was powered by a 6 cyl air cooled Continental Engine. That being said he told me these vehicles ended up being used against Chinese troops who attacked our troops in the thousands. He said without the "twin forties" our side would have been over run.
